.... because I want to work for Grace Coddington!

So yes..... I watched the September Issue this weekend. It definitely gives an interesting insight into US Vogue! Anna Wintour is the well known Editor in Chief. However, the star of this feature length documentary in my opinion is Grace Coddington the Creative Director.
I want to work for her!
'Coddington started her career in front of the lens, winning a modeling contest sponsored by British Vogue in 1959. She switched roles to become an editor a decade later, after a car accident. Coddington says she and Wintour ran in the same circles in London and both came to the U.S. in the late '80s. Coddington is charming, delightful, passionate and so committed to celebrating beauty and her revolutionary notion that clothes, models and photographers could tell stories and not just be objects. Every billboard, fashion magazine spread, every advertisement we see today has been influenced by Grace Coddington. (RJ Cutler)

Below are some examples of one of her photo shoots featured in the September Issue 2009.
 She is a true inspiration!

Beatles to Bowie - the 60's exposed @ the National Portrait Gallery

Last night I went to see this brilliant exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery.
"This major exhibition explores the leading pop music personalities who helped create 'Swinging London' in the 1960s. Over 150 photographs, together with a range of memorabilia, illustrate how the photographic image, music and performance made these popstars the leading icons of their time."

As if this 60's music memorabilia feast wasn't enough, I also attended a talk
by Dr Becky E Conekin on 60's Cover Girls: When Pop Met Fashion.

Twiggy: A life in photographs is running until 21st March 2010

There are events running alongside the exhibition over the next few months.
Talks include 'the 60's exposed' and 'Beatles London' and I am intrigued by the photography workshop - if there is a chance I could take photos like David Bailey then I am there!

I first discovered Blu's work while at BUG hosted by Adam Buxton at the BFI.
BUG focuses on the music video industry. Luckily this little animation got in there somehow, and I've finally found it again. YAY!

Follow the link and watch the Muto animation http://blublu.org/sito/video/video.htm
